Hi Flower Friends!
Oh the work that goes into planning and developing a teeny little flower farm, whoa!
Cut flowers require a lot of sun so where you position your flower beds is super important!
Clear the land you’re using of weeds and level it (totally had a neighbour to do that part)! Lay scrap cardboard to create a barrier which will hopefully reduce weeds.
You need to make the beds which has been done here from scrap timbers (old fence pailings), and then make them cute (a must), paint and then line.
Fill with quality soil (most importantly!) and then plan which seeds you’re growing in each segment that has been measured out and when you’re sowing them.
It’s exciting for us to have sown our Zinnia by Floret, Cosmos and Californian Poppies so far. Next are our Dahlia and Lisianthus (seeds from Floret are new to Australia and limited so if we can grow these successfully that will be amazing!). Many more to come!
The earliest we will be blooming is November so watch this space! Fingers crossed for sunny days and pretty blooms! 🌸

Ps. If you’re a bride that’s having their florals taken care of by us we will still be sourcing florals from local flower farms as well so don’t be worried about limited choices for your arrangements
