Goldie is me, Kat Drescher. I'm 43 years old and have two amazing children Lily (20) and Kody (16). Creativity is part of who I am, my true self I would say. Starting Goldie Bloom Events was a bit of shot in the dark at the start to be honest. Mid 2023 Goldie & Dusk was a business name I came up with when initially the plan was to go into business with my friend and neighbour Kate, we found out within a couple weeks that it just wasn't Kate's thing so that idea quickly ended and Goldie Bloom Events was born not long after. I didn't really know what direction I wanted the business to take at this stage, all I knew was that I wanted to create something that was affordable but not cheap and nasty cheap. To get a foot in the door and start building a brand...but how? It all kicked off with an instagram page and some facebook marketplace ads following the purchase of some quality napkins...over $1000 worth of them (ouch who knew napkins were so bloody expensive!), then came the purchase of some ceremony arches and then lots and lots of stuff! (and a lot of mistakes and learning curves). Over time I realised that my creative side was wanting some of the limelight and I started making more and more decorations which were a hit. I took a sewing class so I could have the option of making napkins and then a calligraphy class when my love of signage emerged. Sometimes I think there are just too many things on the to do list (a list that never seems to shrink to less than 4 pages long) but then I remember how much a love this business and finally believe those words "if you love what you do you'll never work a day in your life".
